2Tours kids can actually do
Xel-Há (all-inclusive aquatic park, age 3+) and Xcaret (eco-park with evening show) are built for families. Tulum ruins (flat, shaded paths) work for all ages. Skip Chichén Itzá with under-6s — too hot, too long. Cenote swims need competent swimmers; bring floaties.
3Airport + car seats
Mexican law requires car seats for kids under 5, but enforcement is lax. Pre-book a private transfer and request a car seat (most reputable companies provide them free). Don't drag your own through the airport unless you're renting a car.
4Food safety & picky eaters
Resort buffets and purified water are safe everywhere — ice is made from filtered water. For picky eaters, the all-inclusive format is a godsend: pizza, pasta, nuggets, fruit at every meal. Bring familiar snacks for tour days.
5Sun, heat & hydration
UV index is 10–12+ year-round. Apply sunscreen at breakfast, reapply after pool time, and book outdoor tours for morning. Hydrate aggressively — kids dehydrate fast in 90°F humidity. Electrolyte packets in your carry-on are worth their weight in gold.
